Rickhouse – San Francisco, CA
While vacationing in San Fran, we stumbled into a bar pre-dinner one night called Swig. It was a rather swanky looking place, but dead at 5pm on a weekday. The bartender was a friendly Irish chap named Terry who recommended stopping by Rickhouse the following night if we were free. So, we decided to try it post-dinner for one cocktail. Not quite sure when we left…
The atmosphere is a’ rickhouse’, which I THINK is a place where they made large ice blocks ‘back in the day’ although Google isn’t helping me much on that front! And I was somewhat foggy when I heard the story…plus the Irish brogue was a tad thick. So, that said it’s a speakeasy.
The menu was quite extensive and overwhelming. It is organized by TYPE of drink rather than alcohol, i.e. highballs, sours, etc. many of which I’d never even encountered. Your best bet is tell the bartender what you like and have them concoct something.
The website does not have a menu or any info, sadly. It’s quite the well-kept secret. If you are in San Fran, go there. Fun times.
