The Breslin
The Breslin has a fantastic atmosphere. It’s the kind of place you like to keep visiting. The only problem is the no reservation policy and the crowds. We did a very early brunch, then moved to the bar and watched the place get a line. We’ve not tried going for dinner yet, but I assume the best bet is EARLY. The bloody mary is one of the best around. They also have cask wines and beers. The service at the bar leaves a bit to be desired. One guy, 3 people standing deep at the bar. The hardest thing to do is get your check. I noticed more than a few people getting annoyed trying to pay and get out.
Since April Bloomfield is known for her pork, go with that. We got the housemade sausage as a side, which was enough for a full meal. And great. My goat’s cheese and leek tart was decadent, not for healthy eaters. Steve’s poached eggs and curried lentil dish was one of the few healthier choices. But then you don’t go to the Breslin for health food!
We’ll go back and try dinner. This place is as good as the Spotted Pig with more space and atmosphere.
We recommend the following for brunch:
Goat’s cheese and leek tart
Poached eggs with curried lentils, yogurt and cilantro
House made sausage
