87 Lafayette Ave. – Fort Greene, Brooklyn
The Stonhome is a basement bar and restaurant in Brooklyn on Lafayette Avenue. I don’t get over to Brooklyn to much and I was happy to find that this area has many restaurants and bars. The Stonehome is a quiet, relaxed and intimate little hideaway. The crowd was mostly theater goers the night I was there. I to was going to the theater. It was a great place for a nosh and a couple of drinks before the show.
The atmosphere was very nice. The staff was of the hipster genre. Most of the men had full beards. Very mountain-man looking. They knew their wines, cheeses and beer. They do not have a full bar. Just wines and beer. Over all they were very friendly and accommodating.
We had the Cheese and Charcuterie platter. We decided on three cheeses and three meats. For the cheeses we went with the Valdeon, Appalachian and the Mahon. For the meats we went with the Speck Americano, Salame Nostrano Fra’Mani and the Coppa Americano. The portions were a good size for two people. After two drinks each and the cheese and meat platter we were ready to go.
If I lived in the neighborhood I would stop in here quite often. I recommend it for good quality food and drink at a good price.
