One If by Land, Two If by Sea
This restaurant is billed as the most romantic in New York, so we went for our 12 year wedding anniversary. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing and unique. It is a historic carriage house which you don’t see too often! The staff is quite accommodating and happy to tell you about the history of the building. We actually discovered how adorable this place was the night we tried the re-openining of Annisa post-fire. It is 2 doors over to the west.
I do have two gripes about this place for the price. One, the carpeting is filthy. Greasy, disgusting, nasty. It is really dark so it is hard to see, but your feet practically stick to it. Gross. Seriously, for a $300 dinner? Second, the food is a bit overly traditional. Their specialty is beef wellington, which reminds me of my childhood as well as Gordon Ramsay and the idiots on Hell’s Kitchen who can’t execute it! That said, it was perfectly executed. Frankly, no complaints whatsoever on the food. The summer cocktail menu is also quite nice. Dessert was also over the top!
