Everett Bradley in Menage de Musique & Holidelic
Musical Theater
Menage de Musique, Triad Theater
158 W. 72nd St. – Upper West Side
This was a unique ‘lounge act’ in the Triad Theater, which is a small cabaret-like theater on the Upper West Side. One of the performers was Everett Bradley, who we saw at Joe’s Pub over the holidays (see full review below). It was such a fantastic show we decided to check him out in a completely different genre. His claim to fame is percussion with R&B vocals and funk. This show was essentially a mix of opera with modern music. It starred Sasha Lazard, a classical opera singer and Michael Zegarski, who is also an opera singer/comic (interesting mix). The show opened with the three singing the theme of Three’s Company, followed by a classical opera song, then Everett on the drum. After that it just went silly. They sang Radiohead, which was pretty cool. There were a few tunes based around jealousy, as they kept the menage a trios theme going throughout. Michael Z was an older man in a shiny suit. He sang the Pussycat Dolls ‘Hot Like Me’, which was pretty hysterical. It was one hour and totally fun. I’d see Everett Bradley in just about anything.
For those of you with the inclination to check out some recorded songs from the performance…

Pictures speak 100 words and these pretty much say it all. This was a quality musical extravaganza. Everett is a funky Santa. The album is all unique funk holiday tunes. All are original songs. There are many musicians and singers in the line-up. The stage is packed with talent. Everett must be 6’2″ before the 12″ platforms. Add the white christmas light fro and he’s a giant. What a presence. Really a fun show that must be seen to be believed. The last two shots are from my iPhone. We were in the front row and plan to attend again in 2011!
