Warren 77
There are pictures of hockey players and a schedule of upcoming sporting events on their website, so I am classifying Warren 77 as a Sports Bar. Duly noted there were TV’s, but I must say I did not notice overt sports watching while we were in the bar. We chose it because of its inviting large open windows on the street. We had stopped in one time prior, but left because it was too crowded. The menu is pretty standard bar fare and I’d classify this as more of a pub. Likely this will be the only posting ever submitted for ‘Sports Bars’ ever on this site! But one never knows…
Warren 77’s exterior is a bit mysterious with a simple ‘Bar’ sign, but the interior is inviting with a clean black and white decor. Exposed brick walls are painted stark white which contrasts with classic wainscoted walls painted pitch black. There are a couple of large semi-circular black leather booths which would be great for a large group or even better for a small one. The bar is in the rear and bends around a corner. It feels a bit tight in that area, as there are tables back there too.
In the windows there is a lineup of old school table video games. One person sits in the window banquette and the other on a tiny teal bar stool made for the game tables. I believe we were sitting at a Pac Man table 🙂 All tables are fully functional and a couple of guys were actually playing one. Also in the front is some random brightly colored faux leather furniture which adds a nice pop.
We met a nice couple there who just moved here from Australia. We were seated rather close together at the game tables and we struck up a conversation. We’ll likely go back to Warren 77 since we had a positive experience on the first round and it is close to home. And if anyone ever asks for a Sports Bar recommendation, I can now say I like this one!
October, 2011
We’ve since had the opportunity to go back to Warren 77 to try the food. Because of the awkward seating at the bar, we stuck with the window seats at the video games. I failed to mention on the last review that the bar stools are too high for the game tables and make for very awkward seating. We really just wanted some wings and figured what better than a sports bar? Wrong. They were horrible. Soggy, disgusting. Surely food will not be on our agenda should we stop in again.
