We have been wanting to try this spot since the staff at a bar called Rickhouse in San Francisco told us about it. What a cool spot! It’s small and cozy, there’s plenty of good food and plenty of good libations. The menu is a tad overwhelming, but in the end I don’t think you could lose with any cocktail. The service was good, not pretentious and the atmosphere well done. I would go back for sure.
We chose tequila cocktails from the ‘Agave Fresco Cocktail List’. There are a ton of lists. To the tequila aficionado, this is heaven on earth. See our comments by cocktail and dish. We tried to keep it relatively simple:
COCKTAILS
SEÑORITA
REPOSADO TEQUILA, ORANGERIE, LIME, AGAVE NECTAR & GRAPEFRUIT BITTERS 13
this was pretty close to a margarita
FLAMING LIPS
HOT PEPPER/SALTED RIM, TEQUILA, ?
this one had some heat, not sure it’s recommended
RANDY COCKTAIL
TEQUILA, LIME, SALT WITH A ‘MEZCAL RINSE’
loved this, it was a smoky, non-sweet margarita served up
FOOD
CROQUETAS
BLACK BEAN & PLAINTAIN WITH CHORIZO AND CHEESE SMOKED TOMATO 10
delicious and smoky, we got these by accident but ate them anyway!
TAMALES
WHITE CORN MASA WITH CHOICE OF: ROASTED CORN AND CHARRED POBLANO 10
OR MOLE BRAISED CHICKEN 12
SERVED WITH PICO DE GALLO, GUACAMOLE & CREMA FRESCA
we had one of each tamale – they were for the most part flavorless crap
COCHINITA
BRAISED PORK BELLY WITH PAPAYA MANGO MUSTARD 14
fantastic, mix up the pork belly with the onion tortillas and mango chutney!
