Burger and Barrel
We’ve been to Burger and Barrel so many times I’ve lost count. I’d say for us, that is pretty impressive! The location is convenient, the food is good, and the bartenders we’ve met thus far have been really friendly and always remember us. I maintain the Bash Burger is the best in NYC. The Chef here is Josh Capon, also of Lure Fishbar and the latest addition th his restaurant group, El Toro Blanco.
9/7/2011 First Visit
Burger and Barrel is definitely a new hot spot, so we went while I was off on a weekday for lunch. I’ve since stopped in at various times and it’s been packed except early on Saturday. I’d recommend lunch to avoid a wait. We went another time and just had cocktails. If you get the corner seat at the bar it’s a nice scene.
The wine list and cocktails are nice, but do not get the barrel wine. Ick! That’s what you get for $8. The food is solid, with three star meatballs. They as good as I’ve had anywhere, even better than the new Michael White restaurant Osteria Morini! I also enjoyed the Short Rib Tacos, which are far better than Bar Henry across the street. And the Sloppy ‘Josh’ beats the hell out of Ditch Plains’, which wasn’t bad (or good) but we were not fans.
6/5/2012 Follow Up
I have added all of our favorite menu items to the list below. We are still loving the meatballs and the BASH BURGER, winner of NYC Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash 2012. Kale salad has become a rather popular item and can be pretty dull. Theirs is solid, so if in the mood for a salad go for the Kale.
