Mono + Mono – CLOSED
Mono + Mono bills itself as an ‘Analog Music Pub & Eatery’. The walls of the restaurant are a huge library of vinyl and records are actually moving on a suspension wire around the top perimeter of the room. The bar, similarly, is filled with jars of infused fruits. Overall, the vibe is very warm and inviting. Since we did not have a reservation, we were seated in the bar area, which has great high tables and bar stools. There are about 8 small round tables with plenty of space to eat a meal.
Their specialty is Korean Fried Chicken, which looks amazing, but takes 1/2 an hour preparation. We were on our way to Joe’s Pub for a show and didn’t have the time to try it.
OUR MENU:
Black Dragon Roll | $16.95 |
smoked eel, avocado, cucumber, crabmeat, chilli sauce, chef’s special sauce |
Holy Crab | $9.95 |
deep fried soft shell crab with spicy pepper sauce |
The Dragon roll was quite generous in size. This is not a great item to judge! It was your standard dragon roll and we have no complaints. The ‘Holy Crab’ on the other hand, could have been better. It was just deep fried battered soft shell crab legs, no body. So they were a bit over cooked, although the spicy pepper sauce had great flavor. Two light dishes are not enough to formulate a fair opinion, so our plan is to revisit for the chicken.
