The Musical Box is  a Genesis cover band licensed by Genesis and Peter Gabriel.  Their most recent world tour reenacts Peter Gabriel’s performance of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway using the original slides and recreations of all props and costumes.  The show is $60/person ($55 for side mezzanine) at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center.  They are in town one more night, Saturday 11/26.

If you are any fan of Genesis/Peter Gabriel you should see this show.  We were youngsters in this crowd, as to be expected for a recreation of a 1974 show.  It got a standing ovation from fans of all ages.  The show is non-stop 2.5 hours of pure entertainment.  The music becomes more intense as the show progresses, as do the outrageous costumes and performances.

The story is so bizarre and truth be told, I don’t get it.  But it is classic Peter Gabriel.  The lead singer really does a pretty amazing job for NOT being Peter Gabriel.  But keep in mind nobody is Peter Gabriel but Peter Gabriel.   Also, the band is phenomenal.

Who would have ever figured such a gig would bring together throngs of 70’s fans in Tribeca? We were pretty psyched to be able to WALK to the show.  Grab tickets today…there are still the ‘cheap seats’ available.

The kids in front of us were clearly on X.  They could barely contain themselves for this show.
