Seafood – Maryland Theme

308 Bleeker St. – West Village
The atmosphere at Choptank is very masculine and casual. Green walls, black and white pics. Nothing special. The seafood was good, but we were not blown away.
They make nice homemade Old Bay potato chips to dip in crab dip, but the chips overwhelm the dip. We enjoyed the steamed topnecks (cherrystones) and the crab claws. Too bad they forgot the seafood forks. They serve things in tiny tin tubs, which is cute. Our entrees were also solid. Nothing bad, nothing to get excited about. It’s a welcome spot in a hood with tons of mediocre food and lines at the great spots (Mary’s Fish Camp). I’d say it’s a good spot if you are in the hood, but don’t make a special occasion of it.
