My friend Derek got tickets to see Jimmy Fallon on http://www.theroots.com/, January 12, 2010. It was a great idea. He signed up online the Sunday before and they emailed him on Tuesday with news that he made the grade. Tuesday night we got hammered with another snow storm that dropped 9 inches on NYC. Our plan was to enjoy the snow with food, drink and entertainment. Lunch at BLT Burger. Jimmy Fallon Show with The Roots and Cake. After that we would meet up with Jen and Tania to get Dinner and go see The Tom Tom Club at Irving Plaza. The perfect plan. And it all went well.

Derek And I met for lunch at BLT Burger. We split the Fish Tacos, a Classic Hamburger and the Onion Rings. They have a good menu. Good lunch fare. I would definitely go back. I would like to try one of their shakes.

We are told we would have to be at Rock Center by 3:45 to sign in for the Jimmy Fallon show. After a quick stop at McAnn’s on 46th Street (which I do not recommend) we arrived at 3:30 and got our tickets and wrist bans. We were told to return at 4:30 so we went to Channel 4 Irish Pub to kill some time and do a little more damage to our livers. We returned to Rock Center and waited in a line for about 45 minutes. Our seats were way up in the back, the second last row. An NBC Page told us that towards the end of the show we would be led down to the stage and seated behind the band. So the show was OK. It was kinda boring. A comedian kept everyone busy during the down time as well as the musical stylings of The Roots. Paul Giamatti was a guest as well as Faith Hill. The highlight of the show was when the band CAKE played their new song Sick of You off their new album Showroom of Compassion. If you watch closely Derek and I are in the back on the right side of the stage. Don’t blink or you will miss us.

After the show we made our way back to Channel 4 for a quick drink, a bathroom break and then off to find Jen and Tania.
