Lani Kai fuses Hawaiian and Caribbean flavors with classic Manhattan cocktails. The decor has a Polynesian flair and is peppered with ferns and other fauna. On a hot day, it is dark and cool. The snacks are tasty and many of the drinks pack a punch masked in tropical juice. They’ve got two floors, the lower level is more of a bar lounge and the top level houses the dining room and somewhat of a tiki bar. This is a photo looking from the top level down…

The cocktail menu categorizes the drinks by type – Boozy & Stirred, Old School, Brain Freeze, The Island of Manhattan, Another Day in Paradise, Tiki Corner, Ohana, Spice & Tropical Tea and Rum Flights are the choices. Additionally, they serve a large cocktail for sharing for $48 which looks to be about 4 drinks. We saw a couple nursing one for quite a while. We are curious about those!

We were walking toward home on a Friday night after a meal at Miss Lily’s. We were feeling an ‘island vibe’, so we stopped in for a cocktail.

Mai Tai, Aged Martinique and Jamaican Rums, lime juice, toasted almond orgeat, and curaçao $13

This is the kind of drink that sneaks up on you!

Kingston Negroni, Jamaican Rums, Sweet Vermouth, Campari, Orange Peel $13

And this one is a sipper! It was great with the rum twist.
