Ken & Cook – CLOSED
Ken & Cook is one of many countless new spots that have been opening along the Bowery over the last few years. These days it has become a weekly occurrence. Ken & Cook is located in the former Travertine spot. Couldn’t be happier that abomination closed. Ken & Cook is a far better concept with a really nice raw bar to the left when you walk in. It loses it a bit with their heavy promotion of ‘boozy brunch’ $40 all you can drink for those who like to have bottomless drinks all day with their eggs Benedict. To each his own. The owners are former Jean Georges employees, so the food is likely good.
We just dropped by to get a look at it, have a cocktail and some oysters. The decor is fairly similar to travertine, which was a stunning space. The atmosphere is lively, the crowd young. The bar was packed and everyone seemed planted for the afternoon. I ordered a Bloody Mary. It was a looker for $10 and surprisingly packed a punch.
We ordered 3 each of each type of oyster on the board and all were nicely shucked clean-flavored East Coasters. We enjoyed them but didn’t photograph. Oyster pics are rarely good!
There were a few people around us who ordered some great looking selections from the Appetizer Menu and the dinner selections look solid.
